This is a lot of fun and I'm enjoying it, and I greatly appreciate your efforts in putting this together, but if I might add a bit of friendly feedback it does irk me a bit that the charts don't always follow the same melodical instrument and randomly switch between them, or occaisionally to percussion or vocals. Like in "Now's Your Chance to Be A," the chart starts on the melody but switches to vocals and then to a different instrument halfway through. It makes the charts hard to follow as a result and I end up doing a lot worse on them because of it.
YEAH this messed me up a lot and i hated it ;_; it felt unfair that some of the songs were hard just because the guitar wasn't consistent and not because the note patterns were difficult...
Thanks, glad you like it. When I was making the maps, I was trying to keep them at least relatively consistent difficulty wise, not overly repetitive, and also easy to follow, all at once. That's really hard to do, so I probably didn't quite get that balance right sometimes.
That's actually not what's causing any crashes, those errors are known and occur when it works too. It's actually most likely because of an incompatibility issue with the vulkan. To fix this, you can use opengl instead, by following these steps:
Create a new text file inside the folder you extracted the game in, name it however you want, then open it and paste this:
"Deltarune Lightners Live Plus.exe" --rendering-driver opengl3
change the file extension from ".txt" to ".bat".
Now open the ".bat" file, which should run the game

Thanks, yes that would be good. I'm planning to overhaul how map loading works to let you arrange your maps into folders, to make them be sorted into tabs in the map menu. Once I do that it should be pretty easy for me to just add a check if there's a folder called "autoplay", and to load into that map on startup, so I'll do that
I love the game and I really like custom maps, but there's still a very big flaw I see with them. You need the audio file for them to work and there are a lot of maps that people make that are just Deltarune songs, and this allows for very easy piracy of Deltarune's music. I still love custom maps and I'm sure there would be a lot of complaints if they were removed so I'm not really sure what to do about that. I just thought I should make that clear.

Yeah I think I made that warning a bit too sensitive, I'll try to adjust it so it only shows up when something's actually going wrong, instead of being pre-emptive.
This is going along nicely! Some small things you could probably add:
1. A gold note effect for when you hit a note with above 90 accuracy like in the game.
2. The ability to unbind/rebind keys, because right now I use F and J for playing, and I sometimes accidentally press D with the side of my hand, causing me to lose combo.
Also, just wanted to ask, are there any plans to give Susie and Ralsei their own charts (and potentially make them playable, maybe? a little something extra to make it stand out from the original), or is it too much work?

yeah i dont think a chromebook using wine is built to have over 15fps on the downloaded version :) even if its a good chromebook its still a chromebook
this is fucking sweet dude and it has a lot of potential, but could you maybe add a health system sometime in the future? weird thing to ask and incredibly basic, unless you decide to make it customizable, but still. would help with my weird ocd where im less involved unless theres a threat of getting a game over lol

Ignore the 3 red extension errors, and 1 yellow icon warning, they're known and shouldn't ever cause it to crash. But any extra ones could explain the cause.
Love playing this! I do have one issue though. There seems to be some cases, especially when I tap both keys at the same exact time, that causes one of the inputs to not be registered until I release that key. I normally play on linux, but I have a windows install and the same thing happens there too.

If so then yes, it seems godot's input handler doesn't activate the is_action_just_pressed() function if you're already holding another button linked to that action. I'll try to see if I can find a workaround to make that work. If you are just using 1 button for each input, then hmm I haven't seen that before, I'll look into it more. To clarify, do you mean that if you press both, keep holding left, then you can't press right (or vice versa)? Does it seem to matter if a note is there (left, right, both or neither)?
Heya! Sorry for replying so late. What I was referring to seemed to be a keyboard issue -- I just used the normal singular bindings, and the issue's stopped now that I'm using a new keyboard. For context, though, the issue was that sometimes tapping *both* keys simultaneously caused one of them to not be registered. When this happened, letting go of the key that didn't register would register a "tap" at that moment. Even though I only noticed it in this game, it seems like it was a hardware issue instead of a game issue. In another note, I would totally support the addition of more control schemes! When I play this game, I use DF JK, with the keys being bound as ZX ZX.
this is awesome!!!!! genuinely my favourite fail and hit sounds in any rhythm game. they just rock. can confirm it works flawlessly under proton :)
the only feature requests i have that i haven't seen yet is maybe a ralsei mode? in the game, ralsei's chart seems to be a different kind of gameplay, one with a little cursor that moves around and has 3 notes total. would be really interesting to see that implemented as a mode at some point, even if it's in the farrr future.
and, much smaller, maybe steam deck controller prompts? it's already an amazing game, so no rush on either!! i'll still be playing the hell out of this forever.

Oh, does it not automatically switch to xbox controller prompts (which is basically the same as steam deck buttons but it's got colours lol) on steam deck? I don't have one so I can't test it. If it doesn't, you can set it to show xbox prompts in the settings (talk to swatch) Or if you just mean special images for steam deck specifically, maybe eventually, but for now xbox works well enough so it's lower priority than a bunch of other things
i meant special images, honestly fair! it is just recoloured xbox ones lol, i just like the consistency. game continues to be absolutely awesome, i can't wait to see what you've got cooked up for the future :)

i imported a whole bunch of songs from gamebanana but none of them are working, even after i checked individually to see if all the song folders were imported correctly. and they should be too
Did the included copy of Raise Up Your Bat load properly when you first opened the game? If it did, you probably just didn't import them properly If Raise Up Your Bat did load, are you sure you unzipped the custom maps you downloaded? Check the doc, I just added a gif that shows the exact file structure, it should work as long as you match that.
If Raise Up Your Bat didn't load, then there's something else wrong. Could you try running it from command prompt, and see if it outputs any errors? Ignore the 3 red extension errors, and 1 yellow icon warning, they're known and shouldn't ever cause issues. But any extra ones could explain the cause.
any chance of adding custom lyric support so you can make ralsei sing different songs in a similar vein to raise up your bat in the actual game? I feel like that'd be fun so you could see peoples attempts to alter the lyrics of some songs in a similar way that ralsei did in that song. ^^

But there seems to be one issue with the timing. I can only get consistent notes if the game does not suffer from any lag spikes, which is very apparent when I try to stream the game to my friends over on Discord, causing some of the notes to slightly shift back and ruin my full combo.
Glad you like it, yeah sorry about the desync. The game does have a lag mitigation system that tries to keep it in sync, but too much lag can overwhelm it and cause issues. If you're playing the web build, the downloadable build will usually have less lag
Hmm I haven't been able to test it myself on Linux with proton, but I've seen 2 other people say it worked fine for them. Is it just ones you're adding that aren't appearing? Since there's one included in the game, just a copy of Raise Up Your Bat as an example, which should load

Oh great! When I was trying to make the native Linux port (or rather when a friend who uses Linux tested it), it worked fine apart from that it couldn't read the metadata file, which meant there info in the map selection menu wasn't showing up. So just to confirm, does that work fine when using wine? And do custom maps load ok? (there's one included in the game, just a copy of Raise Up Your Bat, which are supposed to load in the custom map menu)
I am running the game through wine and it seems to be feature complete. Metadata works and there is no issue playing or loading custom songs. Us linux users appreciate native ports, but they are not necessary! If there are other things you'd rather work on, feel free.
